Information

The Aermotor Co. has continuously manufactured windmills since 1888.

In 1886, Thomas Perry considered 5000 different design elements before settling on the basic Aermotor. This design has been so successful, that it has remained virtually unchanged since then.

Self-oiling Aermotor Windmills have been in production since 1915, in four different models:

Aermotor Maintenance Schedule

An Aermotor that is correctly installed is virtually maintenance free!

1. Check the windmill once every six months to be sure the windmill is running correctly. This is just a visual check from the ground or from the car.

2. Under normal conditions the mill requires a change of oil once a year. You should use SAE 10 or less. The oil should be of the non-detergent type.

3. Check to see if nuts and bolts have remained tight on mill and tower. Do this at the same time you change oil, or after a major storm.

Aermotor Windmill Oil Capacities.

Do not use more than the quantities below. (US Gallons:Litres)

  1. 6' Aermotor 1-Qt (0.946 litres)
  2. 8' and 10' 2-Qts (1.892 litres)
  3. 12' Aermotor 1-Gal (3.785 litres)
  4. 14' and 16' 2-Gal (7.570 litres)

Note: The right amount of oil will ensure proper lubrication and a longer, more efficient life for your Aermotor Windmill. Use only SAE 10 or less of the non-detergent type. Other types may seriously damage your Aermotor.
